The other day I heard about a company called AGLOCO which is trying to set up the first ever global economic community. Sounds interesting at first site....The idea behind AGLOCO is that each time you are surfing the web you're generating cash flow for the Internet sites you surf, AGLOCO is collecting some of that money from those sites that are visited by their Members, and then turns around and passes most of the revenue back to you.
Immediately my inherent skepticism surfaced and I was thinking "this is just like what "AllAdvantage" did back in the day and they didn't end up like Google....It looks like these guys ask each member to refer as many members as possible, and your gains increase for each member referred by members below you. That made me think "these guys are creating a pyramid" so "What's in it for them?".
Come to think about it though, this sounds like a great idea...I've researched the idea some more and realized that as a member you pay nothing. You continue to do just what you were doing before. You just sign up, download the AGLOCO Viewbar software, and begin collecting the money that you have been generating for years. As per AllAdvantage, these guys know about AllAdavantage and seem to have done their home work. After all, AllAdvantage distributed over 100 Million Dollars to its members...so the concept works, its members lost nothing and gained a ton. It looks like they brought on a bunch of Stanford MBA's to fix the problems of the past, so I can give them the benefit of the doubt. Moreover the Web today is a totally different creature than it was 7 years ago. It's 10 times larger and online advertising and commerce has evolved so much so as to create behemoths such as Google and Amazon. That makes this Economic Network model much more viable.
At the end of the day what each and everyone has to keep in mind is a simple notion. You have nothing to lose by signing up for AGLOCO, and if it succeeds you stand to gain a whole lot.
Another source of appeal to me is that I think AGLOCO makes the web more fair. Why should we, the ones who drive these mammoth profits to all of the Internet moguls, get no share of the profits? By giving back to us a share of these profits AGLOCO makes the Web more equitable. A web in which all of the value creators receive a share of the pie is a better Web. It's a web that feels right. It's how the web of the future should look like. And for that cause, I am more than willing to sign up and think we should all support this goal.
